Microsoft’s new Xbox 360 interface – Project Natal

Ok, this video presentation is just that, a video presentation to get us all hot and bothered but will the execution be as good as the intention? Well, I believe there is a good chance it will. Consider the Wii and the revolutionary remotes, err, Wiimotes that it uses. That seemed like a concept that would never work out but sure enough, a couple years in and that equipment is doing great.

Of course the major limiting factor to any computer/human interface is the hardware. I’m a typer and I would hate to loose my keyboard – that’s because I like to write by typing. My handwriting stinks and I’m not comfortable with dictation because speaking can get in the way of my thought process. However, when it comes to an entertainment/multi-media system I’m all for getting that piece of physical hardware out of the way of me and my fun.

So what do you think? Will “Natal” be the next Wiimote or will it go the way of the Colecovision? If it works as well as this video suggests then I know what I want for Christmas 2010…
